Developing an accredited qualification requires thorough preparation, research, and evidence gathering. The proposal must demonstrate:
- Clear demand for the qualification and the capability to deliver it effectively
- Fulfillment of an industry need and support learner progression to desired outcomes, such as further education or employment
- Adherence to LQA’s comprehensive accreditation standards
If these conditions are not met, LQA may consider reviewing and endorsing your programme.

Qualification Development Process
Please note, organisations not currently recognised by LQA must undergo our Centre recognition process before developing an accredited qualification. Complete the Centre Recognition Application Form available on our website.

Centres must submit the LQA Qualification Development Form through our website, detailing:
- The purpose, sector, proposed size, and level of the qualification
- Target learner demographics
- Supporting organizations and stakeholder engagement
- Learner progression pathways
- Structure, assessment methods, quality assurance measures, and programme duration
- Interest in making the qualification available to other Centres
- Subject matter and training expertise available
- Comparative analysis with existing qualifications
- Anticipated learner registrations and key registration dates
Upon receiving your proposal, we will review it to ensure it meets educational and business standards.
If the proposal is accepted, we will outline fees, timelines, and expectations for your staff’s involvement in development. A deposit of 50% of the total fee is required to commence development. After the qualification is finalised and quality-assured, the remaining fee is invoiced, and upon payment, your qualification will be officially accredited by LQA.
The development process can take between one and twelve months, depending on the qualification's scope.
